The meeting focused on the general situation at the borders, exchange information of mutual interest and key strategies to enhance cross-border cooperation.

Participants noted that cooperation among the relevant institutions has helped the successful management of the increased cross-border movement of people during summer as well as countering irregular migration.

Discussions also focused on ways to improve security measures, address shared challenges in the region, and the commitment to stronger collaboration will pave the way for safer borders and more effective responses to emerging threats.

The meetings are part of the assistance given by the Presence in support of the Joint Cross-border Co-operation Mechanism, which brings into the table the regional border police directors of Albania and its neighbours to discuss and share problems, issues and experience related to irregular migration, information exchanges, border controls, joint patrolling, joint training and management of fluxes in border crossing points during tourist seasons.
