INSTAT published on Friday the report on the Price Index of Agricultural Products.

According to the report, prices of vegetable products decreased by 2%, while prices of livestock products increased by 4.5%, compared to a year ago.

The prices of dairy products recorded the largest annual increase by 8.1%. Compared to a year ago, prices of fruit products increased by 2.6%, meat by 2% and cereal prices by 1.5%.

On the other hand, potato prices recorded a significant decline of 29.4% compared to a year ago. Also, compared to the previous year, the prices of fodder crops decreased by 2.9%, vegetables by 1.4% and industrial plants by 0.8%.

Albania is among the countries with a high share of agriculture in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), about 20%, while contributing about 36% in employment.

IPARD and national schemes are supporting agricultural producers and processors not only for the introduction of modern technology and techniques but also with information orienting the farmers to demands of traders and wholesalers in order to plan planting of crops.
