TIRANA, June 10 /ATA/ Minister of Justice Toni Gogu on Wednesday presented before the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs the Priority Recommendations for 2026 in the fight against criminality.

In his presentation, he highlighted that this year’s milestone is the adoption of a new methodology for evaluating and monitoring the implementation of recommendations. This framework is designed to shift criminal policy beyond declarative statements and toward demonstrable, measurable outcomes.

According to the Minister, the main priorities for 2026 include combating organized crime, conducting parallel financial investigations, addressing cybercrime, prosecuting electoral offenses, safeguarding human rights, and strengthening institutional cooperation.

He emphasized that criminal policy should not be confused with interference in specific investigations, and that the independence of judicial institutions remains a fundamental principle of the rule of law.

The Minister further emphasized that the recommendations are directly linked to Chapter 23 of the negotiations with the European Union and to Albania’s need to demonstrate verifiable results in the rule of law.
