TIRANA, Feb 10 /ATA/ Ervin Koçi, Director General of the Financial Intelligence Agency, affirmed that Albania remains committed to implementing the recommendations of MONEYVAL, the Council of Europe’s body for evaluating measures against money laundering, terror financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Reporting to the Committee on Civic Initiatives, Cooperation, and Institutional Oversight, Koçi emphasized that this process has been complex and has required coordinated engagement from a large number of institutions to improve the country’s legal, institutional, and operational framework.

He emphasized that compliance with MONEYVAL’s recommendations is crucial for Albania’s credibility both domestically and internationally, while also reinforcing the integrity of the financial system and directly supporting the country’s European integration efforts.
Koçi underscored that Albania will continue its commitment to uphold and strengthen the standards required by the European Union and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), in order to prevent and combat financial crime.
“Albania is currently in an intensive phase of fulfilling the criteria of the European integration process and, at the same time, is subject to periodic assessments by international institutions in specific areas of national and international importance,” Koçi stated.
