TIRANA, April 11 /ATA/ Non-performing loans dropped to 5.4% at the end of February from 5.45% in January this year.

The Bank of Albania announces that, compared to the corresponding period a year ago, non-performing loans decreased by 2.8%, hitting an all time low since the end of 2008.

According to the BoA, the non-performing loan ratio is declining steadily since 2016, when it reached the level of about 25%.

The BoA estimates that the apparent recovery of the economy compared to 2020, evidenced by the better performance of production and employment indicators, had a positive impact on the solvency of businesses and households. But on the other hand, the continuity of the high credit supply from the banking sector also led to the expansion of the total lending portfolio.
