TIRANA, July 1 /ATA/ – New COVID-19 restriction measures will enter into force starting Thursday with the length of the nationwide nightly curfew to combat the spread of coronavirus disease reduced to 00:00 a.m. – 06:00 a.m.

The Technical Committee of Experts decided in its last meeting on May 27 to shorten the nationwide nightly curfew by one hour as of July 1.

In addition, starting from tomorrow, activities like theatre plays, artistic events, conferences and sports championships will be allowed to include a public with only up to 30% capacity.

The Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu said Thursday that the plan to further relax restriction measures will give more breath to the cultural and sports events and tourism sector.

Health Minister urged citizens to abide by the restriction measures to avoid risk from the Delta variant.

The epidemiological situation in the country is stable and the Ministry of Health reported only seven fresh COVID-19 cases a day ago.

According to the Health Ministry, only one patient is receiving special hospital treatment and no coronavirus-related fatalities were reported in last 24 hours.

A total of total 955,498 people have been vaccinated since launch of the mass immunisation programme, with 399,246 citizens having received both doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
