Vata/ The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has sentenced on Thursday former mayor of Gjirokastra Zamira Rami to one year imprisonment.

The former SMI mayor was found guilty and sentenced to 1 year in prison for abuse of office which, according to Criminal Code, is converted into obligation to work in the public interest.

The decision was delivered on Thursday by the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, which based on the Criminal Code converted imprisonment into the obligation for Zamira Rami to perform 120 hours of work in the public interest over a span of 6 months.

SPAK accused the former mayor of Gjirokastra that in breach of the law has given the green light to demolition of two private properties to clear the way for implementation of two infrastructure projects.
