Director of the Port Authority of Saranda Admir Malaj told ATA today that, “The heavy rain and wind have caused the suspension of the ferry sailing that comes every day from Corfu to the port of Saranda”.

Malaj stressed that the Port Authority has also suspended the sailing of small fishing boats during these days.

Malaj said that, “The situation is being monitored and there will be a new announcement regarding the ferry sailing depending on the weather conditions”. /k.s/r.e/a.f/p.s./

After almost two years of isolation due to the pandemic, heads of the municipality of Saranda and Corfu held their first meeting which took place in the municipality of Saranda.

Mayor of Saranda Adrian Gurma received his counterpart from the island of Corfu Meropi Idhreu and Chairman of the Municipal Council Dhimitris Metallinos.

The mayors exchanged views on the common tourism profile, the growing tourist flow, the tourism band, accommodation capacities and infrastructure investments.

The two counterparts in this meeting shared the common opinion that the two municipalities may and should benefit from integrated tourism, so that every tourist who comes to Corfu comes to Saranda and vice versa, diversifying the offers. They talked specifically about changes in infrastructure and how urban waste landfills work in both cities.

The mayors of the two neighboring cities, with a 30 years old twinning history, expressed full willingness for close cooperation, in all areas, increasing the contacts and communication made concrete with projects and achievements. /j.p/p.s./
