TIRANA, March 30 /ATA/ In the village of Suç, Klos municipality, a group of farmers have joined forces to plant a vineyard.

With the support of the Diocese of Rrëshen, the farmers have cultivated an area of nearly 4 hectares with vineyards.

Farmers have cultivated a variety that suits the terrain of the area, while the aim is to expand the planted area, which also includes the construction of a winery.

Deputy Prime Minister, Belinda Balluku, together with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj and Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, visited the investment and engaged in a conversation with the farmers who have taken this initiative.

This farmer cooperative is a good example to grow business, as it creates more opportunities to expand the planted areas, cut costs, and also improve access to subsidy packages.

“This is a cooperative that we are trying to promote as the best opportunity for farmers to grow and have access to subsidy packages”, said Balluku.

Expressing support for all these initiatives, the deputy prime minister announced that Albanian government is working to tackle once and for all the problem of ownership of agricultural land, which paves the way for farmers to access subsidies and financial support.

The union of farmers also creates opportunities for the automation of processes, Minister Denaj said, adding that cooperatives have the opportunity to benefit full financial support from the subsidy scheme.

The development of agriculture, but also the landscape, increases the possibilities for this agricultural business to turn into a destination for visitors. “Once upon a time, the farmer or dairy farmer was a producer. The idea is to produce in order to diversify a tourist offer. This is the secret, but also the trend of tourism,” said Kumbaro.
