Giannini’s visit takes place in the framework of the Declaration of Understanding signed between the two parties for the establishment of Joint Technical Tables between the senior police directors of the two countries.

Nano and Giannini praised the very good relations between the two police directorates. During the roundtable, they agreed on proposals for strengthening cooperation in joint operations, exchange of information, aerial supervision actions aimed at preventing the cultivation of narcotic plants, cracking down on smuggling of migrants from third countries, etc.

At the end of the meeting, Nano and Giannini also gave a media briefing on the results of the technical roundtable.

“We had a very fruitful meeting, which was held in the spirit of cooperation and friendship. During this meeting, we discussed a string of issues that are of mutual interest such as the fight against narcotics cultivation, the fight against terrorism, criminal syndicates, as well as against the phenomenon of violent extremism and radicalization. However, we have also managed to outline concrete strategies that are very much of service for both countries, ” said Giannini.

For his part, Nano said that the meeting touched on some issues of mutual interest, related to organized crime, serious crimes, illegal trafficking and smuggling of migrants, as well as some issues related to terrorism and radicalism.

“Such meetings are necessary and very useful, not only at the management level of both police directorates, but also at the technical level, eliminating bureaucracies and allowing for an interaction and coordination of actions and exchange of information as well as joint investigations of illicit activities. “I want to assure him of our determination to continue the cooperation with all international partners, in the fight against organized crime and terrorism,” he said.
