Albania-Kosovo: Strengthening Cooperation in Banking Sector

TIRANA, June 10 /ATA/ A delegation from the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), headed by Zyber Çadraku, Director of the Department for Recovery and Resolution, paid a working visit to the Bank of Albania.
The visit was made at the request of the Central Bank of Kosovo, in the context of implementing the extraordinary intervention function as part of the institution’s broader financial stability and crisis management framework.
The Bank of Albania announced that the visit provided an opportunity to initiate ongoing cooperation in the area of extraordinary intervention in banks, with the aim of exchanging experiences between the two institutions.
The CBK delegation engaged in working meetings and technical discussions with their counterparts from the Bank of Albania’s Extraordinary Intervention Department, focusing on critical matters concerning the operation of this mechanism.
Some of the main topics under discussion included the legal framework for emergency intervention, emergency intervention planning in Albania, identification of critical functions and assessment of public interest, assessment of banks’ ability for emergency intervention, minimum requirements for regulatory capital instruments and assumed liabilities, cooperation with the Supervision Department and other domestic and foreign authorities, as well as the Emergency Intervention Fund.
The Bank of Albania expresses its commitment to support the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo in developing capacities for extraordinary intervention and remains ready to collaborate on such projects across all areas of its operations.
