TIRANA, October 1 /ATA/ The consumption of the population, one of the main indicators of economic vitality and family well-being, marked an increase of 3.88% in the second quarter of 2025, compared to the same period last year.

Data published by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) show that the Albanian economy is steadily relying on domestic demand, with family consumption accounting for the largest share in the structure of total expenditures.

The increase in population consumption has been driven by several elements, such as the increase in disposable income for families, thanks to wage increase policies in the public and private sectors, price stability -which has contributed to maintaining purchasing power for a significant part of basic goods and services- as well as increased consumer confidence in the economy.

Household final consumption includes all goods and services used by resident households to meet their individual needs, such as food, energy, transportation, education, health and other necessary services.

A steady increase in this indicator is considered a positive signal for the performance of the economy, as it stimulates activity in the main sectors of production and services.

The positive trend in the final consumption of the population remains a key component for generating further economic growth in the country. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, January 6/ATA/ Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku stated that even three decades after the fall of communism, the consumption of Albanians remains in food, medicine and education.

In a post on social media, Tabaku said that, “There is no surprise that the high taxes we pay from consumption to labor taxes go either to pay the bloated administration of the Albanian government, but even the remaining small part of those revenues go in most cases for the basic needs”.

“It is sad that still 3 decades after the fall of communism, our consumption goes for food-medicine-education”, she said.

Tabaku offered as a solution fight against corruption and the reduction of taxes.

“How can we change? By overthrowing the rotten system of 3 decades through market freedom, social mobility, the fight against corruption and low taxes. This is the perfect recipe for a society that seeks to develop and a country that enriches the citizens and not the power-holders”, she said. /j.p/p.s./
