Addressing city workers at Tirana’s Skanderbeg Square, the government head noted that around 4000 families benefit each year under the soft loan housing program.

He underlined that in addition to the 3% construction tax, an extra tariff is levied on the construction companies to support social housing program in the Albanian capital.

“In addition to construction tax, another tax is applied to all these towers and buildings owned by wealthy people. Everyone should now that 3% of the extra tax is earmarked for the social housing,” he said, adding: “it is not a surprise why Tirana Municipality has the highest number of households, around 4000, benefiting soft loans.”

The government head also highlighted some of the achievements of Tirana Municipality, saying that Tirana has been declared the European Youth Capital and the European Sports Capital.
