TIRANA, Dec 17 /ATA/ – The European Union’s Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, stated a meeting in Tirana on Tuesday that gender equality and women’s empowerment as important pillars of Albania’s EU accession process.

“The EU remains determined in its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment as important pillars of Albania’s EU accession process. Ensuring equal opportunities for women, particularly in politics and decision-making, is essential for the country’s progress and prosperity and for a cohesive society where women and men, girls and boys in all their diversity can fulfil their aspirations,” Gonzato said.

According to the EU diplomat, “women’s empowerment and Albania’s path towards the European Union accession are not only interconnected but are vital for the progress, stability, and future prosperity of Albania.”

“Education, healthcare, and political participation are just a few areas where women’s involvement can make a transformative difference,” EU Ambassador Silvio Gonzato said.
