TIRANA, September 9/ATA/ Head of the Academy of Sciences Skënder Gjinushi stated today that the creation of networks and the establishment of elite research centres in more and more specialized fields is the way to be able to be competitive.

During the international conference “Production and certification of fruit tree seedlings through innovative methods of biotechnology, urgent need for the market” held today in Vlora, Gjinushi stressed that the production of seedlings must meet significant challenges and strong technical scientific requirements.

“The creation of networks and setting up of elite research centres in increasingly specialized fields is the way to become competitive. Scientific certification of autochthonous fruit tree seedlings is one of the conditions in the process of the country’s membership in the European Union. Now, we are at the phase when we are tasked to initially set up a national network of plant biotechnology, with the status of a virtual centre of biotechnology, which will operate at the Academy of Sciences”, said Gjinushi./a.a/r.e/p.s./
