Nearly a year ago, the Competition Commission launched an investigation into the market for the import and wholesale of chemical fertilizers and agricultural inputs to assess whether there are any signs of competition.

“Referring to the analysis of indirect evidence regarding the conduct of companies under investigation, such as: the increase of concentration indicators, the simultaneous and immediate increase of the wholesale price by directly determining the selling prices and dividing the markets, the Competition Commission assessed that the conduct of Agro Blend LLC, MBM LLC and CACA LLC during the period under investigation was in violation of the law “On Protection of Competition,” according to the Competition Authority.

In addition to fining the three companies mentioned above, the Competition Commission also decided to oversee the import and wholesale sale of chemical fertilizers DAP, nitrate and urea, for a period of 1 year.
