Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enkelejda Muçaj, stated that the general objective of this project is the rehabilitation of the railway line Vorë – Hani i Hotit with view to enabling the provision of a modern transport service, the sustainable green mobility, according to EU standards , as well as the implementation of EU directives and the fulfillment of donors’ requirements.

The rapporteur of, MP Edona Bilali, said that the implementation of the project aims to increase the safety conditions and the speed of trains on this railway line, build an interactive railway infrastructure, connected to the neighboring countries of the region and beyond, that meets the requirements of European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), creating the best conditions for the development of passenger and freight services, economic growth and social development within the country, facilitating trade and economic ties with neighboring and EU member countries , etc.
This railway line crosses the western lowlands with stations in Vorë – Mamurras – Laç – Milot – Lezhë – Shkodër – Koplik – Hani i Hoti, which makes the connection with Montenegro. The Transport Community has estimated that its rehabilitation will bring a number of benefits in terms of passenger and goods transport, but also the environment. The length of this railway line is 120 kilometers.
