TIRANA, May 25 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ The Commission of Inquiry for serious constitutional violations by President of the Republic of Albania met on Tuesday to examine the evidence.

The Chairman of the Commission, Alket Hyseni, said that “based on the administered evidence, various posts, film footage, reactions of communities, the judgement should be delivered pursuant to the Constitution, the laws of the Republic and to be as unbiased as possible, beyond emotions as well as political beliefs and affiliation of each of us .”

The member of the Commission, Klotilda Bushka, said that, “in procedural terms the investigation is closed, we will not ask for further evidence and we do not need to investigate or examine other issues, but it is time to review the evidence administered and each of us has the right to secure a conviction based on the findings and results brought to light during this investigative process. ”

We are part of a Commission of Inquiry that is investigating the violations committed by the President as laid down in the request of 49 deputies and in the decision of the Albanian Parliament and the scope of investigation is to verify whether the acts committed and statements given by the President, during the campaign and day of electoral silence and on April 25 constitute a serious violation of the Constitution.

“This commission must investigate and come up with conclusions regarding these violations and prove that these violations are serious in order to respond to the request of fellow MPs. Pursuant to Article 90 point 2 of the Constitution, it is explicitly defined: “President of the Republic may be dismissed for a serious violation of the Constitution and for committing a serious crime,” therefore based on this provision of the Constitution, it is the duty of this commission to review, to investigate and examine as well as confirm findings regarding the violations, and if the violations from this investigative process are of a serious nature, to justify the proposal for the dismissal of the President by 49 deputies, ” she said.
