TIRANA, July 16 /ATA/ – Albania is taking steps to strengthen its integration into the international audiovisual market by advancing towards ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Co-production of Audiovisual Works in the Form of Series, Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja said on Thursday.

The convention would establish a common legal framework for television series co-productions, making it easier for Albanian producers to partner with European counterparts under harmonised rules and international standards, Gonxhja said.

Ratification is expected to create new opportunities for Albania’s creative industries, allowing local writers, directors, actors and technical crews to participate in international productions while expanding access to European markets for Albanian-made content.

The move comes as Albania’s National Cinematography Centre prepares to launch new funding schemes for television series.

Combined with the legal framework provided by the convention, the initiative is expected to support new audiovisual projects and further develop the country’s film and television industry.
