TIRANA, June 19 /ATA/ – Albanian government on Friday approved an agreement with France on cinematographic co-production, aimed at strengthening cultural cooperation and facilitating joint film projects between the two countries.

The agreement establishes a new legal and financial framework designed to ease co-productions and improve access for Albanian filmmakers to international markets and funding mechanisms.

Under the agreement, co-produced works will be granted “national film” status in both countries, allowing them to benefit from public funding schemes in Albania and France without additional administrative procedures.

They will also be eligible for the same legal and fiscal incentives as domestic productions in each country, creating more favourable conditions for joint projects.

The framework introduces greater flexibility in financing arrangements, allowing the minimum contribution of co-producing partners to be reduced to as low as 10% of a project’s total budget, according to the government decision.

Officials said the agreement is expected to open the door for increased participation of Albanian producers in international projects with varied financing structures and to strengthen the domestic film industry.
