Media and Information Agency (MIA) pointed out today that CNN and Reuters mistakenly used images from Kakomeja to depict local tourism protests. The agency clarified that this footage is outdated and completely unrelated to the Sazan or Zvërnec projects.

“Misinformation paints an unrealistic picture of Albania, deterring potential investors and visitors,” is read in MIA’s reaction. /m.m/r.e/a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, May 16 /ATA/ – In the latest ranking published by CNN, Albania’s entry “Zjerm” by Shkodra Elektronike leads the group as the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest prepares to unfold in Basel, Switzerland, on Saturday evening, with 26 countries to battle for the prize.

Albania has captured international attention and will seek to make the surprise with by the electropop duo Shkodra Elektronike and their song Zjerm at the four-hour grand finale of one of the most defining events of the European culture.

In its subjective ranking, the American media giant has praised Albania’s entry for both its artistic daring and thematic depth, ranking it first.

The American media giant describes the act—featuring Kolë Laca and Beatriçe Gjergji—as “possibly the most original pairing at Eurovision.”

According to the American television network, Shkodra Elektronike could capitalize on a weaker-than-average field to claim a shock win for Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest.

“An intense bald gentleman and a songstress who looks to have dabbled in a cult or two form Eurovision’s unlikeliest pairing. Shkodra Elektronike could capitalize on a weaker-than-average field to claim a shock win for Albania,” CNN wrote.

They sing about an oasis – “There’s no ambulance around the street, no one talks to you arrogantly” – clearly oblivious to the British bachelor parties that blight Tirana, Albania’s capital.

And they must be huge Eurovision fans, right? “No, not at all,” Beatriçe Gjergji tells CNN. “(It’s) not our type of music.”

Frankly, their ambivalence is an asset: there is nothing else like this performance on offer, and they’re getting deserved buzz from fans as a result. “If you believe in the type of music you love, maybe something can happen,” Beatriçe Gjergji says.

TIRANA, Jan 2 /ATA/ – CNN has ranked Albania as one of the top ten sustainable tourism destinations out of a list of 24 countries to visit in 2024.

Prime Minister Edi Rama took to the social media on Tuesday to share the latest story by the CNN that points out Albania’s coast and jaw-dropping landscapes, the country’s rich culture, the museum cities of Berat and Gjirokastër, and the National Park of Vjosa River.

“2024 marks a great start with the international promotion of Albania’s tourism,” PM Rama said.

“CNN Travel” has picked 24 top destinations, including Albania, to visit in 2024.

“Sandwiched on the Adriatic coast between Greece and Montenegro, it’s astonishing that Albania wasn’t more popular as a beach destination before. But its wallet-friendly prices have seen tourism boom here over the past few years — so much so that in 2023, record numbers of Italians flocked across the Adriatic for their bargain summer breaks.

2024 sees the opening of a new airport at Vlorë, on the coast, which will make those beach trips easier. But there’s far more to Albania than its coast. The country has a rich culture, including Christian and Muslim history, with historical centers in towns such as Berat and Gjirokastër, as well as jaw-dropping mountain landscapes (Theth is the most popular).

In 2023, Albania got Europe’s first wild river national park, around the 168-mile (270-kilometer) Vjosa River — or to go really off the beaten track book a self-drive tour with Drive Albania,” CNN Travel writes.
