TIRANA, October 2/ATA/ Gjirokastra tower clock, a symbol of the fortress and the stone city, is now functional.

The mechanism of this clock was placed in the bell tower, thanks to the commitment of Gjirokastra Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media the images of the Gjirokastra clock, which he appreciated as restored, “along with the bell tower that echoes across the Drino valley”.

Rama said that this comes “as a reminder of a city where even stones speak, but also as a witness to the new history of Gjirokastra”.

Gjirokastra clock tower was built in the second half of the 19th century.

This clock has been a witness to the history of Gjirokastra, marking not only the hours, but also its most important events.

The restoration of this symbolic object marks a major step in preserving cultural heritage and gives visitors one more reason to have a taste of the magic of the castle and the unique skyline of Gjirokastra. /e.i/r.e/p.s./
