TIRANA, Aug 8 /ATA/ Nationwide efforts continue apace to free up public spaces that have been occupied by entities taking over sidewalks and areas meant for the community.

Today, Prime Minister Edi Rama shared footage showcasing the clearing of public space previously occupied without permission by a tire service business.

Rama assured that this initiative will boost formal economic activity and contribute to cleaner, more European-standard cities.

“Starting with more open spaces and reduced pollution in every community, followed by enhanced greenery, expanded community areas for all, and increased formal economic activity, leading to cleaner, more attractive, and more European-style cities—ready for Albania’s 2030 EU ambitions. Let’s keep moving forward,” Rama stated.

The clearing of public spaces is viewed as a central element of the government’s “Urban Renaissance 2.0” program.

In line with this, Rama announced that a National Regulation is being drafted to designate the areas available for business use.

The clearing of public spaces is essential not only for improving the quality of services but also for enhancing the functionality of every business and enterprise in line with national hospitality and service standards — not just in tourist areas, but throughout Albania.

This initiative began in early July and will remain a key priority for both local and central authorities in their efforts to protect and improve quality of community life.
