The National Cleaning Plan continues in all coastal cities and towns across the country in a bid to clean all the coastal areas and beach destinations as Albania is in for a bumper tourism season with a much higher number of tourists expected to visit the country this summer.

Prime Minister Edi Rama hailed the start of the cleaning action in Velipoje, saying it should expand further to include Buna Bridge, Shirokë and Zogaj, through the help  of Armed Forces as part of close cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, the Ministry of Defence, Prefect and Shkodra Municipality.

“With new era of management in entire Shkodra Municipality, where we can’t afford wasting a single moment, the coastal tourist town of Velipoja has joined the country-wide cleaning plan ahead of the summer tourist season to turn it into undisputed success story,” PM Rama said via the social media.

Cleaning actions serve both to clean and keep the urban environment clean, as well as to raise awareness among vacationers and tourists about maintaining cleanliness and health.
