The Statistics Institute released the report on agriculture statistics, according to which, citrus fruit production in 2020 increased by 5%.

“Citrus production in 2020 recorded 49,201 tons with an increase of 4.95%, compared to a year ago with tangerines accounting for 65.36% of the total. Vlora records the highest proportion of citrus production with 66.05% (32,497 tons), ” according to INSTAT report.

Citrus production in Albania is mainly represented by tangerine cultivation in the southern region of Saranda and Vlora.

Although a small country, Albania is among Europe’s ten largest producers for citrus fruit as well as aromatic and medicinal plants.
