According to President Osmani, the granting of citizenship to the icon of Albanian literature, the writer Ismail Kadare, is an honor for the state of Kosovo for the author, who is constantly an important point of reference for Albanians everywhere in the world.

“The Republic of Kosovo and its citizens feel honored by the prominent personality of our world-class writer Ismail Kadare, who with his creativity has affirmed our language, culture and tradition,” Osmani is quoted as saying.

Referring to the events in Ukraine, Veliaj underlined that in difficult moments, citizens must all be together, leaving behind their differences and political agendas.

Therefore, he said, this moment of obtaining Albanian citizenship should be treated as a day of unity in diversity.
