TIRANA, April 14 /ATA/ Albania and Greece coordinate the actions of police structures at border crossing points, to facilitate the movement of citizens on both sides of the border.

Deputy Minister of Interior, Andi Mahila, accompanied by the police chiefs of Gjirokastra and Korça regions, held a meeting in Kakavija with the Deputy Minister of Citizens’ Protection and Immigration of Greece, Eleftherios Oikonomou and with representatives of the Greek Police, on the border with Albania.
They discussed issues of co-operation in the field of security and facilitation of the citizens’ movement on both sides of the border.

Deputy Minister Mahila said that “together with the Greek authorities we have built relations which on both sides are at a very good level.”

“Today’s meeting is a testimony to the will of our two governments to deepen, expand and intensify relations, based on mutual strategic interests, close cooperation in NATO and a common European perspective,” he said.

“One of the main topics of today’s talks was the coordination and organization of work in order to facilitate the movement of our citizens. We initially aim for safe and trouble-free movement, mainly for holiday periods such as Easter, during the next week, but definitely also during the tourist season and the end-of-year holidays “, underlined Mahila.

“Coordination of our joint actions for setting to operation the Joint Center for Police and Customs Cooperation, an agreement which was signed between our two governments, and ratified by the respective parliaments, was another topic of discussion at today’s meeting,” Mahila said.
