The draft law was presented by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment, Almira Xhambulla, Elvana Ramaj, Director, Directorate of Circular Economy and Artenida Duraku, Director, Directorate of Integration and Projects with Foreign Financing.

In her remarks, Xhambulla stated that the draft law in question is intended to spur social and economic development in Albania.

“The agreement stipulates a grant that will be allocated by the German government to support the Ministry of Tourism and Environment for the development of economic instruments, which guarantee prohibition of the landfilling untreated waste in accordance with the directive of the EU for landfills,” Xhambulla said.

The rapporteur of the case, MP Mirela Pitushi, said that this bill aims to strengthen and deepen the relations between the Albanian and German governments, and in this context, as partners, the project in question aims to contribute to the social and economic development of the Republic of Albania.
After discussions, comments and suggestions, the committee members approved this draft law in principle, article by article and as a whole.
