Restoration of the roof in the church of St. Mary, the visitor platform and the path on the island of Maligrad will restore the identity of this cultural monument left under-invested for 50 years.

This church is an important tourist attraction not only for the Prespa National Park, but for the whole region and Albania.

Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, emphasizes that the restoration of the St. Mary church on the island of Maligrad and the refurbishment of the panoramic path, one of the most important cultural assets in the Prespa region, for the values of cultural and natural heritage.
She says that this project is being implemented by Korça’s Regional Directorate of Tourism and Culture, in cooperation with the Municipality of Pustec.

The St. Mary Church is located on Lake Prespa, on the island of Maligrad. Built in the 14th century, is one of the most valuable monuments of cultural heritage, which has served as a spiritual center for Albanian leaders.
