In a social media post, Koçiu said that, regardless of political beliefs, everyone shared the same concern for children’s safety and future.

“Regardless of our political beliefs, we all share the same concern: the safety and future of our children. The images of violence on the streets of Tirana are troubling, especially when we see young people and minors among those involved,” she said.

Koçiu stressed that young people had the right to protest, express their views and demand a better future, but said that right should not be accompanied by their involvement in violence.

“Young people have the right to protest, speak out and demand a better future. But no one should involve them in violence or use them as part of political battles,” she said.

She also addressed parents, noting that their foremost concern was the safety of their children.

Protecting the lives and safety of minors, she added, must take precedence over any political interest.

“No political battle is worth more than the lives, safety and future of our children,” the deputy prime minister said.
