TIRANA, Aug  27 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama informed on Saturday that in September the law that provides for promotion to the rank of colonel for world champions in sports will go to parliament.

During the ceremony organized in the prime minister’s office to honor the boxer Florian Marku, Rama said that “the public consultation has already completed, and the law provides for the promotion to the rank of colonel of athletes such as Luiza Gega, Briken Çalja or the Olympic champions of Kosovo until retirement.

“These four will be colonels and will be paid as colonels in the Ministry of Defense. They will work in a special structure of mentors to instill the spirit of the champion and winner, the ambition of success in our soldiers and officers and to show them that being Albanian and being a representative of the red and black flag in every field is not only an honor, but also a very strong motive to succeed,” said Rama.

In conclusion, Rama said that “when it comes to sports, we are all in debt to the country, the youth and the children of this country.”
