TIRANA, June 27/ATA/ The Assembly of Albania started the proceedings of the plenary session today with the MPs observing a minute of silence in commemoration of the genocide against the Cham people.

At the request of the Chairman of the Party for Justice, Integration and Unity Shpëtim Idrizi, the Parliamentary session of July 3 started with a minute of silence for the victims of the massacres by the Greek chauvinists in 1945.

Idrizi said to the Parliament that 80 years have passed since 1944, when the residents of Chameria were massacred and displaced.

“Genocide has no time. I say, the memory of a nation is greater than that of a man. It is said that a people who forget, dies. We have defied oblivion. We do not blame the Greek people, but the politics of the time and today’s stance”, said Idrizi.

“Greece maintains the law of war with Albania. European Greece denies the existence of the Chams”, said Idrizi.

Idrizi noted that no one can violate the right to life.

He asked Speaker Lindita Nikolla to mark this day every year because this is a law approved by this same Parliament in 1994, as well as an obligation of the government against the Resolution for the Albanians of Chameria.

June 27 is the day recognized by the Parliament of Albania by Law no. 7839, dated 30.06.1994 “On the announcement of June 27 in the national calendar as the “Day of the Genocide against the Albanians of Chameria by the Greek chauvinists and the erection of a memorial”.

Also, according to Idrizi, there is also a resolution approved in 2012 on the issue of the Albanians of Chameria that is binding on every government./p.s./

TIRANA, June 27/ATA/ Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku stated today that “The situation in Albania requires an anti-corruption package”. And she considered fair the concerns that the American Chamber of Commerce presented regarding business.

“Unfortunately, the climate created for small or large business has continuously deteriorated and the symptoms that have appeared in the business climate index of chambers of commerce are a correct, though not complete, reference to the whole situation,” Tabaku said.

According to her, “Unilateral fiscal policies, custom laws and above all the destruction of free competition, are the problems of the system that has been set up over the years.”

“An unfair system cannot accept honesty, and therefore most Albanians who have the knowledge and opportunity prefer not to be inside and part of this system,” she added.

Tabaku voiced support for AmCham’s request for an Anti-Corruption package that will also include a Public Procurement reform.

“As a DP MP, for weeks I have started consultative meetings with experts and I will continue with these meetings in the future. I will be very pleased to engage in a meeting with the representatives of AmCham, which I consider important partners for business in our country. The time has come for us to offer a way out and a solution for the benefit of our country and the future of our children”, said Tabaku. /m.m/r.e/p.s./
