According to statistics in 1980, 372 thousand hectares were planted with cereal crops throughout the country, while the total production was over 800 thousand tons. On average, 2.3 tons of cereal crops were produced per hectare. While in 2019, 132 thousand hectares of land were planted with cereal crops, from which 666 thousand tons of cereals were produced.

Yield per hectare was 5 tons or more than double the yield in 1980, marking the largest area ever cultivated with cereal crops.
