TIRANA, April 10/ATA/ “Voltalia” Deputy CEO Yoni Ammar stated today that the Karavasta Solar Park, with a capacity of 140 megawatts and an investment of 145 million euros, is the largest in the Western Balkans.

In his speech at the inauguration event of Karavasta Solar Park, Ammar said that, “This park is also a model of cooperation between France and Albania”.

“One year after the start of production, we are celebrating not only the completion of a major project, but also an important milestone for Albania’s energy independence”, Ammar emphasized.

This strategic project, continued Ammar, fully embodies what we can do when we join forces to accelerate energy independence, the fight against climate change and the country’s transition from an importer to an exporter of solar energy in European power plants.

“Thanks to the mutual trust and cooperation work between “Voltalia”, the Albanian government and the energy utilities KESH, OSSHE, OST and EBRD and Intesa San Paolo Bank, as well as all partners for the supply of equipment and the execution of the works, we managed to transform a beautiful project on paper a few years ago into a performing production operator”, Ammar underlined.

Further on, Ammar expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Edi Rama, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and their teams, considering them as essential partners in this adventure.

“The support of the Albanian and French authorities shows the common will of our two countries to promote cooperation in the field of sustainable and continuous development of innovation and energy independence of Albania. We are proud of what we have created in Karavasta and what we will do in the coming years”, said Ammar, adding that this is just the beginning.

Meanwhile, Ammar announced that in Durrës there will begin the construction of Spitalla power plant.

“This plant will add 100 megawatts to Albanian production by 2027. This is a new stage in our long-term commitment to this country to support its ambitions thanks to our development program of over 500 megawatts of solar energy,” said Ammar. /k.s/j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, October 11 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer Albert Bourla, who is on a visit in Tirana, was today at the anti-Covid vaccination center in the venues of the “Air Albania” stadium.

Rama said that, “This is a special day for the vaccination process because we have the honor and pleasure to welcome the Chief of Pfizer, who I can say with great honor that he has become a friend of ours, of Albania”.

The prime minister stressed that, “He opened the door for us at the most difficult moment when we went to New York to knock on the door of Pfizer in conditions when we had no clear perspective as all the countries of the region were not included in the first supply scheme of vaccines”.

“We talked at length in New York even though he did not promise us on the spot that the issue would be resolved, he promised us that he would do everything to solve it. Thanks to his commitment, we were able to get the vaccines earlier than everyone else,” Rama said.

The prime minister expressed to the Chief of Pfizer once again, what he has repeatedly expressed, gratitude for this help in protecting the lives of citizens./p.s./
