TIRANA, June 28 /ATA/ During a routine inspection in the new “5 Maji” neighborhood, one of the largest construction sites of the Reconstruction Program, Mayor Erion Veliaj said that this will be the most beautiful neighborhood of Tirana. According to him, the new apartments for the families affected by the earthquake and the local residents of the area who will live there, will be ready very soon.

“I am very proud of the extraordinary work that has been done in the “5 Maji” neighborhood. Here we are not just building blocks of apartments, but we are building communities, spaces, parking lots, greenery and schools. It will certainly be the most beautiful neighborhood of Tirana. Of course, the work did not go well, especially in “Kombinat” quarter, where we had many absurd trials, mostly incited by politics, the same like in “5 Maji” neighborhood where people implicated in crimes block the city’s progress or the losing parties put their hopes on sabotage. But, sabotage does not work,” said Veliaj.

He further underlined that no one can stop development and progress of the city of Tirana. The important thing, according to Veliaj, is to keep the promises and move forward with work.

In the end, the mayor had a call for judges who try to block the work of the Municipality of Tirana to liberate the “Sharra” cemetery area from illegal occupiers. He warned of denouncing everyone trying to block Tirana’s progress.

“I feel very sorry that there are still judges, waiting for Vetting, who block the municipality of Tirana to liberate the cemetery of “Sharra”, and there are even judges of the Administrative Court who give blocking orders against the work of the municipality. There is talk of the old cemeteries, which have been occupied by building houses on them while the municipality has been seeking to remove the illegal houses for 7 years and the court says no. But, the cemetery is to honor our ancestors who no longer live. And in 2022, there are court decisions that block the municipality from the liberation of the cemetery. I will be the first to denounce a judge blocking the liberation of the cemetery. These rulings do delay our work, but they cannot delay us indefinitely. The city will continue to move forward”, concluded Veliaj./k.s/r.e/p.s./
