The centre-right Christian-democratic political alliance also called on the five last EU countries to recognize Kosovo as an independent state and liberalize the visa regime for Kosovo citizens, highlighting the new security situation in the wake of the Ukraine war.

The CDU/CSU lawmakers urged government to make every effort for Kosovo to join international bodies as soon as possible, supporting first the country’s bid to join the Council of Europe.

The CDU/CSU stresses that the goal must remain for all six Western Balkan countries to become members of the EU.
