TIRANA, May 17 /ATA/ The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, in the press conference held on Friday, spoke about the draft law on the transfer of public properties to private companies, approved yesterday in the Parliament of Albania.

He said that, “this tailor-made law has been designed in collaboration with the property mafia and the so-called strategic investors. It is nothing more than the complicity between a handful of Albanian oligarchs and the corrupt politicians of this government.”

Basha said that, “the anti-corruption department in DP has put this issue on the list of priorities to be followed up in partnership with all anti-corruption factors in the country, from non-governmental organizations, investigative media, SPAK to international partners .”

In this way, he added, “according to the first signals we have, valuable properties in the center of Tirana will be made available to persons declared ‘non grata’ precisely because of corruption and their involvement in organized crime and illegal influence in election processes.”

“Other valuable properties, with the status of public property, will be made available to the oligarchs who are damaging the coast and building without any transparency, laundering the corruption money of the government officials in the coast of Vlora, in the center of Tirana and everywhere else,” the leader of the DP said.

Therefore, he emphasized, “the Democratic Party that denounced this affair as soon as the data of this draft law, already approved yesterday with the votes of the socialist majority, were published, will exhaust all avenues be them legal, constitutional and criminal to prevent the property development mafia and the cooperation between corrupt Albanian oligarchs and corrupt Albanian officials from causing this double drama.”
