TIRANA, Jan  12 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ The chairman of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, said on Thursday that the law “On investigative commissions” will be changed any time soon, transposing into it all the rulings of the Constitutional Court during the last 20 years.

In a media statement after the meeting of the Conference of Parliamentary Commission Chairmen , Balla said that even in this meeting it was agreed that all decisions of the Constitutional Court should be transposed into law immediately.

“Even the rule of the parliament needs to be amended. We proposed a bipartisan commission to address these changes and move ahead with the obligation of parliament, because it should be the first institution that abides by the decisions of the Constitutional Court,” said Balla.

In this regard, he cited the decision of the Constitutional Court in December 2022, which ruled in favor of the majority on decisionmaking for another request of the investigative commission.

“The opposition has unlimited right to propose demands, but this does not mean that we will not have the right to review them. In the Conference of Speakers, it  was agreed that the Assembly of Albania should immediately and urgently address all the decisions of the Constitutional Court in the last 20 years that have not been transposed into the law on the organization of investigative commissions,” he said.

Balla said that “it is about a law approved in 2002, regarding which there are a number of decisions of the Constitutional Court, recommendations that should be taken into consideration.” /j.p/sm/
