TIRANA, June 24 /ATA/ – Carmina Burana, originally a musical by Germany’s Carl Orff, will make its comeback at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

The much-awaited production returns to the National Theater of Opera and Ballet fresher than ever, featuring celebrated soloists, the White Voices Choir, and the Symphony Orchestra under the beloved conductor Sergio Alapont.

Carl Orff’s monumental work will be performed over two consecutive nights, bringing together more than 170 artists on stage.

The German composer’s world-renowned masterpiece is enhanced by the White Voices Choir, joining professional musicians to create an evening filled with powerful emotion and energy.

Under the direction of maestros Sergio Alapont and Dritan Lumshi, the cast includes sopranos Eva Golemi and Nina Muho, tenor Matias Xheli, and baritone Armando Likaj. The performances are scheduled for June 25 and 26 at TKOBAP.

Carmina Burana, composed between 1935 and 1936, is based on 24 poems from a medieval collection written in Latin and other medieval languages. It premiered at the Frankfurt Opera on June 8, 1937, and forms part of the Trionfi triptych alongside Catulli Carmina and Trionfo di Afrodite. The opening and closing sections, titled Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi (“Fortune, Empress of the World”), begin with the iconic and powerful “O Fortuna.”
