The value of card payment transactions amounted to 64.1 billion lek, up by 26.6 % compared with 2022.

Volume of terminal payments accounted for 14.5 % of the total value of card payments, up from 13.9 % a year ago.

Card payment methods are being driven by growth of tourism industry, as the increasing demand from foreign tourists is encouraging an increasing number of businesses to accept payments via such instruments.

Number of bank cards in 2023 totalled 1.43 million, rising by 4.6 % compared with last year.
