Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images of the project on social media; the initiative aims to address the growing demand for parking without consuming valuable surface-level public space.

“Here is what the new underground car park to the northern entrance of the Grand Park of the Artificial Lake—near “Frédéric Chopin” square in Tirana—will look like. It will provide more parking spaces, while the area above will be transformed into a green space featuring trees, vegetation and pedestrian paths for the public,” Rama wrote.

The parking facility will consist of two levels: level -1 will serve passenger vehicles, while level -2 will be dedicated to buses.

The surface area above the parking facility will be reclaimed for public use, featuring greenery, trees and pedestrian paths.

The facility will also be equipped with ventilation systems, surveillance cameras, access control and modern lighting. /k.s/j.p/p.s./

General Directorate of Road Transport Services said today that if compared to 2023, there was a 27% increase in the registered vehicles.

According to the directorate, 80,739 of them are cars, which constitute 81.6% of the total registered vehicles.

Meanwhile, the compulsory motor insurance market has also had a positive trend. During January-September 2025, there was reflected a steady increase in both the value of gross written premiums and the number of insurance contracts. /j.p/p.s./

“I have travelled all over Europe taking part in car events. For many people, the car is the reason why they go to different places. While for me the reason why I go to different countries is life, the way people live what is happening in the world. The cars are metal; they are lifeless”, he said.

McGuire, who visited Albania for the first time, said that he was amazed by the nature and the people.

“I had this wonderful opportunity to come to Albania for the first time. It didn’t take me long to say ‘yes’. I came without any prejudice; I didn’t know anything how many people there were in Tirana. I didn’t know anything. My first impression at the airport was superlative. Then the taxi ride to the city center.

Just looking out the window, I had a positive feeling. Then, the event began. The hospitality? Extraordinary”, he said.

McGuire emphasized that it is the people who give life to the event, regardless of the platforms.

“They create the platform, but it is the people who come to use this platform and give life to the event. I always look for life. But, here in Albania I found it and it was wow. Youth, vibrant, economic advancement that you can feel, energy. All those things that make you live. I have had a fantastic life, but the future is what is happening here, it is youth, vibrancy, confidence”, he said further on.

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services asked the drivers to observe the regulation on darkening the car windows warning that every car that will have no official certificate and the windows darkened above the norms will not qualify from the technical test.

“Any vehicle in violation of the norms, which moves with tinted windows without certification or which has increased the % of darkening after certification, is subject to administrative measures by the Traffic Police as well as subject to penalties up to the loss of the right for darkening the windows”, the Directorate said./p.s./

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared in the social media views from the Berat Regional Directorate of Road Transport Services, where, he emphasized, “Besides the improvement and a higher quality of services, we have also reduced costs, through the installation of photovoltaic panels, which cover a part of the annual needs for electricity in this directorate”.

The new complex of the Regional Directorate Berat enables dignified working conditions and the provision of quality services for 35,000 vehicle drivers, while there are new halls for driving licenses and registration of vehicles, places for carrying out technical and physical identification of vehicles, as well as service offices./p.s./

Prime Minister Edi Rama, while sharing moments from this race in social media, called this another “test of strength” of Albanian tourism.

“The special hill climb race in Sarisalltik mountain in Kruja consists of full 15 different flags and is another “test of strength” of Albanian tourism, whose potential extends to every inch of Albania that has just begun, thanks to years of work and perseverance so that to come out of the abyss of 10 years ago”, wrote Rama.

Albania was represented in this competition by the passionate professor Gentjan Shaqiri.

The Police Directorate of Tirana provided details about this event where there was involved a car of the Russian embassy.

“On 11.05.2023, at around 11:10 p.m., at the overpass in Mjull Bathore, the vehicle of the Russian embassy driven by citizen A. K. and passenger citizen S. M., collided with the metal road banner, went off the road and then ran into the curb”, a press release of the police reads.

The police clarified further that, “As a result of the injuries received from the collision, the Russian citizen S. M., 36 years old, died in the hospital, while the citizen A. K., 30 years old, is in the hospital, under the care of doctors. The investigative group is working to define the circumstances of the accident.”/p.s./

On Friday, April 21, during the prayers’ time of the believers, the three parking lots in the capital will be free of charge, so that the believers can perform the ritual of prayers without any obstacles.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today pictures of this completed parking lot on social media.

“This is the underground parking lot of 300 spaces at “Çerçizi” square in Gjirokastra”, emphasized Rama.

Thanks to the large underground car park of 300 spaces, the city has a large pedestrian center; the traffic is avoided from the Old Market, there is created a new urban oasis under “Çerçiz” square connecting the neighborhood with the city center and that strengthens the monumental historical profile of the city.

The underground car park in Gjirokastra gives a new quality to the historical area. Gjirokastra is being ranked more and more among the elite cities of Albanian tourism, absorbing an ever-increasing number of tourists. /k.s/ /gj.m/p.s./

The Retro Commission evaluated the Ford Model A of 1931 as the oldest vehicle, which is already part of this registry, brought to Albania by Mr. Fritz Liebig.

The 1931 Ford Model A is the successor to the Model T and was produced between 1928 and 1931.

This vehicle, which will now enjoy the Retro status, is one of the vehicles that were then called ‘the first Regular cars’.

The Directorate said that in the meantime, there continuous the registration and self-declaration of historical and interesting collection vehicles on the official Retro online platform by individuals, public institutions and various associations. /j.p/p.s./
