The draft law on cultivation, production, processing of the cannabis, its by-products and final products for medical and industrial reasons, proposed by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Interior, following a public opinion survey, will allow the use of the cannabis plant for export, and medical and industrial purposes.

Presenting the bill to lawmakers at the Parliamentary Committee on Labour, Social Affairs and Health, Health Minister underlined that special national agency will be established to control the process.

The purpose of the draft law is to regulate and guarantee the process of control and supervision of cultivation, production, processing and export of the cannabis, its by-products and final products.

Use of cannabis for medical purposes has been legalized in more than 35 countries, including Greece, Israel, Denmark, Canada, North Macedonia, and the Netherlands. A total of 22 countries on the European continent have adopted specific legislation on the use and export of cannabis for medical and industrial reasons.
