Sejdiu said he has notified Vetëvendosje and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) — the two parties that had put him forward as their joint candidate for President of Kosovo — about his decision to step back from the race.

“In the prevailing circumstances — defined by the absence of sufficient parliamentary support for my election as president and by the diversion of the process into the vortex of internal political dynamics and confrontations — I have chosen to withdraw my candidacy for President of Kosovo,” Bekim Sejdiu wrote in a Facebook post.
