“Greece’s Canadair have been deployed to support Albania’s Armed Forces, firefighters, civil emergency crews and local structures in their efforts to extinguish the flames as part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism,” Defence Minister said.

Peleshi expressed gratitude to the governments of Greece, Italy and Croatia for their readiness to deploy their firefighting aircraft to Albania.

For the third consecutive day, municipalities in the southern regions of Dropull and Finiq have been grappling with wildfires that have rapidly spread through the area fanned by strong winds. The situation has improved in specific areas like Grapsh in Dropull and Kardhikaq in Finiq, alleviating immediate threats to local residents and properties.

Firefighting teams from various Albanian regions, including Dropull, Gjirokastra, Tepelena, Permeti, Kelcyra, Memaliaj, Finiq, Saranda, Himara, Delvina, and Konispol, continue their efforts to completely extinguish the fires. The ongoing concern stems from the changing wind patterns which could potentially reignite the flames.
