TIRANA, Nov 29 /ATA/ The construction of the College of Europe campus in Tirana kicks off on this momentous day for Albania, which marks the 80th anniversary of its Liberation, a strong symbol of Albania as the gateway to Europe in the Balkans.

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the construction site to see first-hand the work together with the Rector of the College of Europe in Bruges, Federica Mogherini, Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, and Director of the Albanian Development Fund, Dritan Agolli.

“Today marks the first day of construction. This project is highly intriguing, not only for its architectural design but also for its functionality and the range of services it will offer. It will entail four buildings: the first will house the library and various services for young people and students. The second building will house classrooms and learning spaces. The third will serve as office space and provide additional support services for the college, while the central building will feature a large hall, an auditorium for students, and facilities for various events,” stated the Director of the Albanian Development Fund.

The campus will be integrated into the Student City and will serve as a new space, featuring modern architecture and optimal environments.

“This space will primarily serve the College of Europe campus, but it will also be accessible to students in Student City, as they will have access to services such as the library, a museum that will be built, and the sports facilities that are part of this campus. There will be more opportunities to collaborate with the University of Tirana, as some of the facilities here will be available to students from that university, as well as to students residing on campus,” said Minister of Education Ogerta Manastirliu.

The campus is expected to be completed within two years and will be ready to accommodate an increased number of students.
