TIRANA, May 7 /ATA/ – The main opposition Democratic Party’s candidate Roland Bejko pledged at a campaign meeting with local residents in Tirana’s Xhamllik area that he would cut local tariffs and taxes by 50% in the Albanian capital if elected in May 14 mayoral elections.

He said that direct communication with every Tirana citizen was very important to him and the party he represents.

“Today we campaigned in Xhamllik area. At meetings with small business representatives, very high tax rate was their main concern,” Bejko said, accusing current Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj of increasing local taxes significantly.

“That’s why, together with our experts we will provide fresh breath to business by reducing taxes by 50%,” he promised.

TIRANA, April 29 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama, also leader of Socialist Party, said in his remarks at a meeting in Dropull, southern Albania, that the government has opened a new chapter for Albania, its economy, employment and development of tourism industry.

“Tourism is a major industry we are working to expand and strengthen year by year with all its components, including cultural and historic tourism, with the museum cities of Gjirokaster and Berat being the main destinations, as well as mountainous and adventure tourism to empower every family all over the country,” PM Rama told a meeting in the municipality of Dropull on Saturday.

The government head noted that agritourism represents a great opportunity for everyone to invest their savings in transforming their private family homes into guest houses and accommodation facilities and generate more income than one could earn by working in Greece or elsewhere.

“This whole area has been blessed with abundance and it is our duty to make sure it becomes a source of income for households. The hospitality and leisure industry is the industry of the future for Albania,” he said.
