TIRANA, Sept 24 /ATA/ The large scale public space reclamation operation has extended all across the country.
“To address the issue of unauthorized constructions, the government is also drawing up a package of legal measures against state officials responsible for violations in this regard.”
Today, Prime Minister Edi Rama posted on social media videos showing the ongoing efforts in Pogradec to demolish constructions encroaching on public spaces.

“Specifically in Pogradec, interventions are underway to demolish unauthorized boundary walls, concrete platforms, and stairs built without permits by private individuals or families.”

“To facilitate the reporting of unauthorized constructions, the platform ‘My Public Space’ has been made available to citizens. To date, 11,886 cases have been reported through the platform, of which 8,668 have been resolved, while 3,218 remain under review.”

“Conceived as a systematic and ongoing on-site operation rather than a temporary effort, this initiative, launched in July, serves as a precursor to the implementation of the ‘Urban Renaissance 2.0’ program, which seeks to restore legitimacy all across the territory while promoting community development.”

“As part of the effort to crack down on unauthorized constructions, the newly proposed Criminal Code, currently open for public consultation, introduces harsher penalties.”

Additionally, a new National Regulation will be introduced to support private entities by designating the spaces businesses are authorized to use.”
“Specifically, for every chair placed in the designated area, the entity must contribute one tree to the Green Fund, which will be launched by the new government.”
