TIRANA, October 27/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that the Albanians and the Greeks are two peoples that are as like as two peas, while he emphasized that we should never forget that what sometimes separates us is never worth what eternally unites us.

Prime Minister Rama participated today in the event organized in Derviçan on occasion of erecting the bust of the former prime minister of Greece Konstantinos Mitsotakis and naming of the square after him.

Rama said that, “Unfortunately, sometimes the electoral politics, with its insignificant needs for the destinies of our countries and peoples, disturbs the natural flow of fraternity that has been the plasma since the dawn of time between neighbors like Albania and Greece”.

“But, these are things that pass even though it would be good if they didn’t happen. Sometimes, the quarrels and misunderstandings between brothers who live in different houses are easier and sometimes more difficult. It is certain that in the course of today’s democratic lives, disturbances and misunderstandings not only pass, but also strengthen the understanding of the inseparable bond between our two peoples and our countries, for which even the two indomitable opponents, Konstantinos Mitsotakis and Andreas Papandreou not only stuck to the same belief, but they also did everything they could in the short time when they had power at their disposal, when Albania just came out of isolation”, said Rama.

“I don’t know if Prime Minister Konstantinos Mitsotakis is seeing and hearing us from there in heaven. I would like to think that even the sun that appeared today is his smile, a statesman loyal to his convictions who lived almost 100 years sticking to his convictions”, he added.

Rama wished that Albania and Greece have more men and women similar to the man in this bust.

“Let this bust serve the generations to never forget that what sometimes divides us is never worth what unites us eternally: we Albanians and Greeks, as two peoples that are as like as two peas “, he added./p.s./

TIRANA, September 27/ATA/ In context of the European Heritage Days, the “Pope Clement XI Albani” Foundation in cooperation with the National Historical Museum and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture organized the ceremony of donating the bust of Pope Clement XI Albani in the premises of the medieval pavilion. Some documents dedicated to Pope Clement XI Alban were also donated to the National Historical Museum in Tirana.

Attending the event were the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tirana, representatives of religious communities and many guests.

Zef Bushati, President of the Pope Clement XI-Albani Foundation, spoke about the journey of the bust of Pope Clement XI Albani, how the idea was born and how the bust was realized thanks to the donation of the Barattini family.

“On December 18, 1700, Albani was crowned pope in the Lateran of Rome. The pride of the Albanian origin reappeared when he was elected pope because he would add his last name Albani to his father’s name, which coincided with the glorious name of the Albanian tribe of Kelmendi, in order to stand out in front of the whole world that he was Albanian. In this way, he used both the names Klement and Albani, motivating them with the Albanian world because one name belonged to a famous Albanian tribe and the other was the name of the Albanian people themselves which he had in his soul”, explained the Director of National Historical Museum Entela Çipa./p.s./
