TIRANA, July 1 / ATA/ The tourist areas of the country have received increased attention, especially during the tourist season, also in terms of electricity infrastructure. The Electricity Distribution Operator has drawn up a plan of measures for the tourist season with a special focus on coastal areas, which during these months see a high influx of visitors.

To ensure quality supply of electricity, investments have been made in substations and distribution networks. Palasa substation has undergone a complete reconstruction, through an investment of 120 million ALL, which has quadrupled its capacity, and has reduced to a maximum the possibilities for various breakdowns.

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, has inspected the investment made in this substation, where she was closely acquainted with the measures taken to guarantee uninterrupted supply of electricity on the south coast.

Director of the Southwest Unit for High Voltage in the DSO, Gert Bilero, informed the Minister about the works carried out during the reconstruction and the effect they have on the work of this substation, but also the entire network that covers the area.

“The capacity of this substation has increased fourfold. In addition to it, there are also mobile substations to accommodate power demands or restore electricity in case of blackouts due to equipment failure,” said Bilero.

The electrical substation of Palasë covers about 5400 subscribers, but during the tourist season their number increases significantly, while the demand for the construction of other facilities in the field of hospitality in the coastal area has also increased. To keep up with this development, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy announced that more investments will be made in this area to meet the demands of entrepreneurs and to guarantee a quality service for visitors and residents throughout the coastline.

“This substation was built 10 years ago, but at a very small capacity. Due to the rapid rates of development in the area, there was a pressing need to invest 120 million ALL, to increase the capacities and improve the service for the whole area with a population of about 15 thousand inhabitants, but most importantly there are 1330 businesses and 82 state entities that will access uninterrupted supply of electricity, ” stressed Minister Balluku.

During the tourist season, the number of OSHEE crews on the ground in coastal areas has also increased. Minister Balluku asked all employees to do their utmost to offer quality service to the residents and tourists who have headed to the coast to spend their holidays.
