TIRANA, March 24 /ATA/ Albania is hosting, for the first time, the working group meetings of the European Business Registries Association (EBRA), a key European event that convenes experts and senior officials from business registers throughout Europe.
The meetings are scheduled to take place on 24–25 March in Tirana and are being organised by the National Business Centre (QKB).

The programme encompasses working groups on company law, open data, and beneficial ownership, addressing pivotal issues related to transparency, digitalisation, and the interoperability of business registration systems across Europe.

In her address, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, highlighted the progress achieved by Albania in the area of business registration and services.
“Albania now operates a fully digitalised system for business registration and associated services. Applications are submitted online, procedures are swift and standardised, and registration is completed within 24 hours. This transformation has enhanced operational efficiency, reduced costs for entrepreneurs, and strengthened institutional trust. Concurrently, substantial legal reforms have been implemented to align with the European Union acquis. Efforts continue to improve the framework for beneficial ownership, promote transparency, and ensure access to accurate and reliable data. The results are evident: Albania is positively ranked in international indices for administrative efficiency and ease of doing business, positioning the country among the most advanced in the region in this domain,” emphasized Delina Ibrahimaj.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director General of the National Business Centre (QKB), Etugert Llazi, highlighted the significance of this event for both the institution and the country.

“The fact that this meeting is being held in Albania for the first time represents an important milestone and a tangible recognition of the progress achieved in the development of business registries. The digitalisation of processes and the improvement of data quality have been at the core of QKB’s transformation, enhancing both transparency and the efficiency of business services,” stated Llazi.
He emphasised that QKB will further modernise the legal framework, aligning it with the European Union acquis, and will maintain open communication with the business community to further improve services and reduce the administrative burden on entrepreneurs.

Over the course of the two days, the discussions will revolve around the most advanced aspects of European developments, including the integration with the BRIS system, initiatives concerning the European Business Registry Portfolio, and the implementation of the ‘once-only’ principle, designed to streamline procedures and reduce administrative burdens for businesses.
